The Organization


The Kidwai Memorial Institute of oncology was converted by the government of Karnataka as an autonomous institute to facilitate furtherance of the primary object of providing comprehensive cancer care for the people of the region and through this measure to attempt to achieve care, prevention and control To organize,, establish and maintain hospitals model rehabilitation centres, welfare homes convalescent homes and terminal care hospitals or homes are the goals set for the Institute. An integral part of the function of the institute is to organize teaching and training paramedical personnel in the science diagnosis treatment .rehabilitation and research in oncology with stress on prevention of the cancerous disease in the community. The Governing council is the policy and decision making body. The financial support for the institute is through grants from the government of Karnataka with the according of the status of a regional centre for cancer research and treatment by the government of India, grants are also received from that source.

Governing Council


The Governing council is the policy and decision making body. The financial support for the institute is through grants from the government of Karnataka with the according of the status of a regional centre for cancer research and treatment by the government of India, grants are also received from that source.

 

Board of Visitors


No Institution dealing with patient care can afford to live in ivory tower dissociated from the public. A Board of visitors has been constituted by the chairman, governing council. The board is the bridge between the institute and the public and through this function ensure satisfactory patient care and assist in the development of the institution in always.

Standing finance committee:-


The governing council is assisted by a standing finance committee. all matters relating to the institute are discussed at the meetings of the finance committee and its recommendations are then place before the governing council for decision. The committee meet twice during the year and its deliberations have been instrumental in the preparation of the budget and release of grants.

Standing academic committee:-


The standing academic committee has been constituted by the governing council in order to initiate, formulate and place before the governing council, its recommendations relating to training of undergraduate and postgraduate students of the faculty of medicine faculty of science , training of doctors , nursing , and paramedical personnel , training of medico—social workers and others .
The Director is the executive and academic chief working under the guidance of governing council and aided in his administrative functions by chairman ofDivisions, Heads of Departments, and a number of Advisory committees. The organization chart is shown as I II and III.

Committee for policies and procedures

The General Bye –Laws of the institute as provided for a committee for policies and procedures to be adopted . Draft background material is being prepared and it is hoped that after discussions, policies and procedures will be laid down to serve as guidelines for the functioning of the institute.

Staff meetings

Staff Meetings are held periodically to discuss matters relating to all aspects of functioning of the institute .During 1980 ,three meeting s were held. These meetings serve as a forum for exchange of views , formulation of procedures where required and at which the work of each of the Departments is reviewed.

Standing purchase committee


In the development of the Institute , equipment of various types and of variable costs have to be purchased ,keeping in view of the overall functional development relating to hospital services and search activities . In this context, .it is obligatory to have a standing purchase committee for the purpose. Hence, the standing purchase committee is constituted with the following officers:

Sub –Committee

As part of sharing of powers,duties and responsibilities the need to constitute a number of sub- committees arose .The following sub- committees will go into the details of specifications ,calling for quotations ,comparative statements and such other details . The sub -committee shall also make recommendations on items to be condemned half yearly. The sub – committees shall submit its proceedings to the standing purchase committee to finalise the purchases expeditiously. The constitution of sub committees is shown as Annexure.
