RGUHS Rules and Regulations for the Courses

In recognition of the facilities available at the Institute for Diagnosis, treatment and Research on Cancer patients, various Post Graduate, Undergraduates, and Diploma courses are offered and these courses are affiliated / Recognised by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Medical Council of India and National Board of Examinations. The Cytopathology Laboratory of the Institute has been accredited by the Indian Academy of Cytologists for training in Diagnostic services.

The course duration for these courses is 3 years and in addition, there will be an internship for six months period. Post Basic Diploma in Oncology Nursing

Post Basic Diploma in Oncology Nursing students, after the completion of the course, will have to work  for a period of one year as Trainee Nurses during which a stipend of Rs.7500/- per month will be paid.

 The admission to Post Basic Diploma in Oncology Nursing course is through the Interview conducted by the Institute. The admission for One seat for M.Sc. Nursing course is through the counseling conducted by RGUHS and for other seats, the selection is through the Interview conducted by the Institute.

In addition, after the completion of the course, the students will have to undergo one year Internship in the department as per the guidelines of Atomic Energy Regulatory Board.  During the internship stipend as per the rules of the Institute will be paid. The selection is through the Interview conducted by the Institute.  

The department of Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Radiation Physics are recognized for Ph.D. Programmes under RGUHS.  Many students are persuing Doctoral Programme in these departments.

Training/Observership/Honarary Residency for Specialised Training :

In addition, the Government of India has recognized this Institute as one of the Institute of National Excellance and has been deputing medical persons for WHO fellowships for higher education and training in cancer treatment and research.  It has among its primary objectives, the promotion of a high standard patient care and aims to provide top notch integrated training programme in the oncological sciences.  The institute has initiated a programme of professional education and expertise Technology transfer through short term education/training programmes for undergraduates,  postgraduates students from medical colleges/institutions/nursing colleges from Karnataka as well as from other states of the country.  Superspeciality Post graduate students from other Regional Cancer Centres will be posted to this Insitute for training. In addition, students persuing post graduate studies in various disciplines  such as Nursing, Social work are posted for a short term orientation classes as observers to the respective departments.  The doctors and Health workers of Government of Karnataka are also trained by the Institute with the main objective of imparting knowledge in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer in early stage in their respective areas.
